Metal Gear is an action-adventure stealth video game released for the MSX2 in 1987. It was the first game in the Metal Gear series.
A different version with most of the same story beats was released for Commodore 64, DOS, and Nintendo Entertainment System the same year.
It was remade in the J2ME subset of Java for feature phones. This version was released in Japan in 2004 and in North America in 2008.
A worldwide console remake based on the 2004 remake was released in 2005 as bonus content in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.
