Super Bombermsn 3 is the third game in the Super Bomberman subseries of Bomberman games. It improved upon the first two games in the subseries and added in features from Bomberman games outside of the Super line.
The graphics are as cute and colorful as always and fun graphical environment effects return such as rippling waves for the underwater stage. The musical motifs continue to be fun. The Bomberman games have some of the most catchy tunes in gaming.
There are five levels with five stages. The fifth stage is a boss stage. They are classic large mechanical boss fights. The stages can be revisited. Some stages have multiple areas. The buttons only need to all be switched on to open a door to exit a stage or an area. It isn't necessary to defeat all enemies to open an exit door.
There are new mechanics such as buttons that move and fans that will suck Bomberman toward it and push him back out quickly. The rideable kangaroos that crack from eggs from Bomberman '94. This gives Bomberman two hits as well as an ability based on its color. Green can run really fast, pink can jump over blocks, blue can kick bombs over blocks, yellow can kick blocks, and brown can create a line of bombs based on the maximum amount held. Other new mechanics include a mine cart will jet Bomberman quickly around the level and smash blocks and kill all enemies in the way.
The bosses are fun, including one that can change bombs to apple items that can be picked up for points and your rideable animal to a slow turtle.
Super Bomberman 3 is a fantastic game that has been released on many different platforms. It was released for the Super Famicom in Japan and on its Super Nintendo Entertainment System international counterpart in 1995, as well as for 32-bit Windows in Japan in 2004 as part of Bomberman Collection Vol. 2. In 2026, the SNES version was included in the Super Bomberman Collection for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S worldwide. Like its Super precessors, Super Bomberman 3 is well worth playing,
