Chris Tolworthy's ambitious Enter The Story books as games project continues with Julius Caesar. In William Shakespeare's famous play, a group of senators conspire to overthrow Julius Caesar when rumors surface that Caesar intends to turn republican Rome into a monarchy under his own rule.

The latest Enter The Story games, including Julius Caesar, are choose your own adventure games with some classic adventure elements. The games are partially playable online and can be unlocked by ordering the games in a bundle for $15. Enter the Story: A Winter's Tale and Tempest

Chris Tolworthy continues his quest to make choose-your-own adventure games out of the world's best known literature. He has released two more games since I updated last. The games are based on A Winter's Tale and The Tempest, two plays by William Shakespeare that feature jealousy and treachery by royalty. A Winter's tale follows a servant who is ordered by the king to kill the king's childhood friend because he's blinded by jealousy and believes the friend is sleeping with his wife, although he is innocent. The Tempest sees a magician, the rightful Duke, who is banished by his jealous brother, get revenge on his brother by causing his ship to become shipwrecked by a magical tempest. The games are partially playable online and can be unlocked by ordering the games in a bundle for $15. The bundle also includes the five original offline adventure games created with Adventure Game Studio.

Enter the Story: Hamlet is Out, and It's Free

Hamlet is the newest story in Chris Tolworthy's ambitious project, Enter the Story, which aims to turn the world's classic literature into choose-your-own adventure style video games. This game, based on William Shakespeare's play about Prince Hamlet seeking revenge upon his uncle for murdering his father, is completely free.

If you enjoy this game, the rest of the Enter the Story games, including the original five original adventure games for Windows created with Adventure Game Studio, can be purchased in a package deal from the Enter the Story website.

Enter the Story: Othello is Available Now

Enter the Story, Chris Tolworthy's ambitious project to turn the world's classic literature into choose-your-own adventure style games, has received its newest title. This time it's one of William Shakespeare's most famous plays: Othello. The play is about a Moorish general named Othello who is going to marry a Senator's daughter, but the Senator is against the marriage due to Othello's race.

Half of the game is available to play for free on the Enter the Story website. The whole game can be purchased as part of a package deal that includes the other choose-your-own adventure games created in Javascript, as well as the original five Enter the Story adventure games created with Adventure Game Studio.

Enter the Story: A Midsummer Night's Dream is Out

Enter the Story, Chris Tolworthy's ambitious project to create choose your own adventure games based on the world's most famous literature continues with William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is the famous story that finds fairies manipulating a group of lovers in order to get what they desire, during the ceremony celebrating the wedding of Duke Theseus of Athens and the Amazon queen, Hippolyta.

This game, and the other online games in the series, are made with Javascript, and are choose-your-own-adventure stories with some casual adventure style puzzles thrown into the mix. For $19.99US you can unlock 10 online stories, and the original five off-line casual adventure stories that were created with Adventure Game Studio.

Enter the Story: Frankenstein is Available

Enter the Story, Chris Tolworthy's ambitious project to create games based on world famous literature, continues. This release is the choose your own story version of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley's famous novel about a man who uses cadavers to create a monster, who may not be a monster after all. The game is playable online to the halfway point, and is available to purchase in a package deal which includes all the Enter the Story games, including the original 5 offline casual adventure titles made with Adventure Game Studio.

Enter the Story: Macbeth Is Now Available

The newest story to become a choose your own adventure style game is Macbeth, William Shakespeare's famous play.

There are now five online choose your own adventure style games available and five off-line casual adventure games available in the Enter the Story line. All of the games are available now in a bundle for $15 USD.

New Enter the Story Games Streamlined For Flash

Enter the Story, Chris Tolworthy's ambitious project to bring classic literature to video game form, has received a change that means good news to it's fans: the gameplay has been streamlined so that a new story can be added each week.

The first five games were simplified adventure games using the AGS (adventure game studio) engine. You point and clicked your way through a black and white interpretation of each book's world, communicating with characters and advancing the story. The approach was novel, and it worked well. But it required a lot of time to make each book into a game.

Starting on February 21st, Chris premiered the new Enter the Story format: choose-your-own-adventure style browser games. The new games feature a comic style illustration, complete with speech balloons, and links underneath with choices that take you to the next part of the puzzle. It's a much simplified version of what the games used to be, but it works well. There are four new books available: The Picture of Dorian Gray, Journey to the Center of the Earth, The First Men in the Moon, and Romeo and Juliet. Macbeth and a Midsummer Night's Dream are listed as coming soon. The old games are still available and still use AGS. The new games are free for the first half of the story, are playable in most internet browsers, and are updated almost daily.  For $14.99 USD, you can purchase the complete version of every online browser game, as well as the five original AGS games.

Enter The Story: The Count of Monte Cristo Is Out

I missed this one when it was released in August. The Count of Monte Cristo is the latest game in Chris Tolworthy's ambitous adventure game series that aims to create interactive versions of classic literature.

This game improves upon the previous games based on player feedback. Actions can be completed by single clicking the right or left mouse button rather than the double clicking the right mouse button, and the middle mouse button is now supported for menus. It also has a much more focused story, as it focuses on one main central character, and the side characters now have full movement as there are fifty fully mobile sprites. More color has been added into this game by popular request.

The story is also improved based on feedback. There's less jumping around between locations, and clues are delivered wherever you are to reduce confusion. Also, due to reviewers early feeling the story moved too slowly, the story in this game has been adjusted to make it flow more quickly.

The Count of Monte Cristo is available for $7.99 USD or in a package with all five Enter the Story games for $14.99.

Les Miserables Free, A Tale of Two Cities Out Now

Les Miserables: The Game of The Book, the first installment of Chris Tolworthy's Enter The Story series is now free.

The Enter the Story series takes classic literature and allows you to experience it through an adventure game.  The game is seen through the eyes of an angel, and you connect the thoughts of the characters rather than controlling a character directly.  This adds to the feel of experiencing a novel, since you feel like a narrator moving the story forward.  The game has no voices, but there is classical style music that fits the game perfectly.

The newest novel to receive the Enter The Story treatment is Charles Dickens' classic A Tale of Two Cities. There are now five games (including Les Miserables), with the promise of more to come.  For $14.99, you get all the games plus any future games.  The games all connect to each other in game, as locations from other novels can be selected inside of the game world.  You can grab Les Miserables for free and purchase the rest of the novels at The Enter The Story website.
