The Secret of Monkey Island

The Secret of Monkey Island was the first game in the Monkey Island series. It has four major versions. The first versions, the EGA floppy disk version, which could also be run in CGA mode, was released in October 1990. The second version, the VGA floppy disk version, was released for DOS in December 1990.

The VGA floppy disk version was the basis for the Mac OS and Amiga versions which were released in 1990, and the Atari ST version which was released in 1991. The VGA floppy disk version was included in the Antstream online gaming service in 2021.


The floppy versions of The Secret of Monkey Island are supported by ScummVM, a program designed to let 2D adventure games run on multiple platforms. With ScummVM, they run on modern versions of windows, as well as Linux, Mac OS X, and many consoles such as Dreamcast, Wii, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.
