The history of Whispering Rock may be an homage to Maniac Mansion. In Maniac Mansion, a radioactive meteor hit the Edison's front lawn, driving Dr. Fred insane, much like the effect the psitanium-bearing meteorite had on the residents of the boom town Shakey Claim.
