Tim Schafer left LucasArts in 2000 to form a new video game studio called Double Fine Productions, along with much of the Grim Fandango crew. It has been a bumpy ride for Double Fine so far. Their first two retail games both lost their publisher and funding half way through development.  They have now started to develop smaller downloadable only titles, including a puzzle adventure game named Stacking.  In 2012, they successfully crowd funded an adventure game through Kickstarter titled Broken Age.
